Bilateral Agreements III between Switzerland and the EU are an act of betrayal: Switzerland is becoming a colony of the EU!
That the Swiss government – conducting a foreign and military policy of humiliating subalternity to NATO – did not care at all about the fate of neutrality and peace had long been understood. Now we also know, however, that the Swiss government even gave in on two other cornerstones of the Confederation: direct democracy and national sovereignty. In fact, according to information available today, the agreement recently signed between Bern and Brussels is nothing short of disastrous!
It is shameful to hear, from the left, the hesitant positions of the Swiss Social Democratic Party and the Greens who still believe in deceptively fanciful “accompanying measures.” These Parties, blinded by an out-of-date pro-European dogmatism, are abandoning the working and popular classes who throughout the EU, in fact, are voting (and rightly so!) to break free from the imperialist diktats of Brussels. Still extremely timid, though more meaningful, is the trade unions’ position, which at least admits to considerable problems.
With these new bilateral agreements, Switzerland will transpose the laws of the EU: the takeover of EU law over Swiss law will no longer be “automatic” as originally thought, but the substance compared to the failed framework agreement of 2021 does not change: in the event of a dispute, in fact, the EU Court of Justice can go so far as to sanction Switzerland even following a decision taken democratically by our people. Only colonies are treated this way!
Steps backward will also occur from the point of view of the protection of salaries and working conditions, where the Swiss side will have fewer tools to intervene to protect workers in the face of abuses by European companies. The EU has also demanded to dismantle our public service, and the Swiss government has accepted without batting an eyelid: not only will we have a liberalization of rail traffic, but we will also be confronted with the liberalization of the domestic electricity market, which will lead to the explosion of prices to the detriment of workers and small businessmen, as well as to an increased dependence of our country on the European energy market.
We are faced with a betrayal of both the class interests of workers and our national interests: we therefore need a cross-party reaction, from the right to the left, to avoid the colonial subjugation of our country to a warmongering, economically crisis-ridden and deeply anti-democratic EU. In Switzerland there is not only the right, there is also a popular, patriotic left, tired of this aggressive and anti-social Europeanism: it is time to take sides and organize. The Communist Party will do its part!
