Where there is oppression, there will be resistance. Where there is exclusion, there will be denunciation. The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), the world’s largest anti-imperialist youth organization, heir to the legacy of the struggle against fascism and colonialism, raises its voice in protest and vigorously condemns the arbitrary, illegal, and discriminatory exclusion of the Republics of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua from participating in the X Summit of the Americas, to be held in the Dominican Republic. This act of exclusion, orchestrated and promoted by the government of the United States and its allies in the region, constitutes a gross assault on the principles of sovereignty, self-determination of peoples, and the legal equality among States, which are supposedly the foundation of multilateral forums. This is not the first time that Yankee imperialism has used this event as an instrument of its hegemonic foreign policy, to divide the continent and attempt to isolate nations that dare to defend their independence and build projects of social justice outside its dictates. Therefore, we define this exclusion as an act of political cowardice and a flagrant violation of International Law. The Summit of the Americas must be a space for inclusive dialogue, where all voices of the continent have a place. By denying participation to these three countries, the true nature of the event is unmasked: an exclusive club for those who submit to the will of Washington. We denounce the role of the United States government, whose record of interference, criminal economic blockades, and military aggression in the region morally disqualifies it from dictating who is or is not worthy of participating in a continental forum. It is the same power that has maintained a genocidal blockade against Cuba for over six decades, applies unilateral and illegal sanctions against the Venezuelan people, and finances destabilizing attempts in Nicaragua. We hold the host government, the Dominican Republic, responsible for having yielded to foreign pressures and validating this exclusion. History will judge severely those who facilitate continental division and undermine collective sovereignty. Through this statement, we express our unwavering solidarity with the revolutionary youth and peoples of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. Their struggle is our struggle. Their right to exist and develop in peace, free from external threats, is a non-negotiable principle for all anti-imperialist youth of the world. The anti-imperialist youth of the world will not remain silent. Down with Yankee imperialism and its lackeys! Long live international solidarity! ¡Hasta la victoria siempre!
