The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) has always stood up for the rights, pride, and dignity of the Working Class. Since October 3rd, 1945 at the First World Trade Union in Paris, France, the WFTU has sought to unify the global trade union movement. This is especially true 80 going on 81 years later.
As of recently the WFTU has made it clear that they stand with workers in the fight for full labor and social rights. They have organized and fought for safe and healthy workplaces, where respect for human dignity is guaranteed and maintained. The WFTU are currently fighting for a decrease in work hours and work days, specifically advocating for a 35 hour work week with 7 hour days compared to the current 40 to 45 hour work week with 8 to 9 hour days. Along with these shortened hours and days the WFTU is also calling for an increase to workers’ current low and unlivable wages. The World Federation of Trade Unions also pushes for the implementation of universal, public, and free access to healthcare, education, and social security. The WFTU sees the importance of supporting and organizing marginalized groups. They have made an effort to emphasize support and organization of young workers, women, migrants, and precarious workers. The WFTU stands firmly in militant solidarity with all workers and peoples fighting against exploitation, oppression, racism, discrimination, and imperialist domination, due to the fact that these workers and peoples are often the first to be victims of capitalism, capitalists, capitalistic exploitation, and anti-labor policies.
The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) has been on the side of workers since its birth. The WFTU has consistently chosen to face capitalism and its bourgeois elite head on without hesitation or compromise. The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) stands as a shining example of what it means to stand in solidarity as workers united!
