The American Student Union (ASU) sends its greetings to the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) Central Europe and North America (CENA) meeting in Belgrade, Serbia, and to all of our fraternal youth organizations who are participating.
This meeting comes at a time of heightened international tensions when the aggressive bloc led by United States imperialism is pushing for World War 3 with Russia and China. Where will the youth of the world find themselves?
A noble mission has come upon us, the youth, to prevent World War 3. As Lenin said, “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen”. A world war is not inevitable.
The United States is financing the war in Ukraine, at the rate of 100 million dollars every 24 hours, and has just approved a new military package to Taiwan worth 345 million dollars. The United States military budget is 833 billion dollars for the year, increasing every year, amounting to 50 percent of the total budget.
Europe needs to realize that it is being used by the United States as cannon fodder. Has Europe been colonized by the United States?
The streets of the United States show a different picture than what the media projects, and in California alone, there are 170 thousand homeless people any given night. The money in the military budget should be spent on our society, rather than war, and that Russia and China are not our enemies.
Let us take the example of Tulsi Gabbard, an officer in the United States Army Reserve, who met with Bashar Al-Assad of Syria, who crossed lines and political divides to expose the Military Industrial Complex.
The political system in the United States is rigged, and everyone knows it. The American Revolution of 1776 was a positive event in world history. However, the capitalist system in the United States no longer serves the majority of people.
It is our task as the youth to educate and organize for a second American Revolution, for socialism.
United States imperialism is the number one enemy in the world today. In 2014, it set up an openly fascist government in Ukraine. Our comrades of the Komsomol of Ukraine, the Kononovich brothers, have become an international situation.
We, the youth of the United States, call for freedom for the Kononovich brothers.
We call for unity against imperialism.
Long live Socialism!
Long live the Anti-Imperialist Struggle!
