Celebrating Joan Jara, Widow of Victor Jara

Joan Jara, Victor Jara’s widow, passed away at the age of 96. Victor Jara was the famous Communist, educator, trade union activist and song writer during the time of Salvador Allende.

Some of Victor Jara’s songs include (translated to English): The Right to Live in Peace (about Vietnamese National Liberation), Deja la vida volar, Manifesto, and other songs such as Venceremos, the hymn of Salvador Allende’s electoral forces in the early 1970s pre-Pincochet coup.

The editors of the Daily Worker share some songs of Victor Jara, and the documentary titled, “The Battle for Chile.”
