It was on this day in 1945 that Soviet and American troops met at Elbe River, marking an important milestone in WWII and the fight against fascism. The first contact between American First Lieutenant Albert Kotzebue and Soviet Commander Alexander Gordeyev effectively meant that Nazi Germany had been cut in two.
To our Soviet Ukrainian comrades who fought Fascism in 1945 and continue to fight Fascism in 2024 against the current usurpers who have taken over the Ukrainian government. May the flames of friendship continue between the former Soviet peoples and the American people!
