Charles de Gaulle’s grandson comes to Russia for the 80th anniversary of the victory of Stalingrad

Pierre de Gaulle came to honor the defenders of Stalingrad as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper wrote on January 31.

Pierre de Gaulle took part in a roundtable dedicated to the anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad.

“I came here of my own free will to honor the military and civilian patriots who died defending Stalingrad,” de Gaulle said, adding that the Russian people cannot be defeated.

The guest noted that his grandfather, French Marshal Charles de Gaulle visited Stalingrad twice and presented the city with a sword of honor, and he was honored to visit Russia as part of the anniversary celebrations.
