History through time teaches us the lives of great characters that have left an indelible mark on humanity. Such characters as poets, writers, artists, painters, political or military leaders have been examples to be followed by the nations where they lived, for the contribution they gave to their people and to the world in general.
But there are very few cases of this type of personalities in history, who managed to gather in themselves practically all the virtues mentioned above and many more.
José Martí was one of them, one of those intellectuals who in his wisdom managed to deliver to his people the incomparable beauty of his poems and writings, the consequence of his words, the insight and humility that led him to the creation of political and military unity in the fight against the enemies of his people.
The Apostle of Cuba, as he is called in the largest of the Antilles, knew how to consistently unite the Cuban people against Spanish colonialism and fight for their independence, uniting poetry and love with the sword in the struggle of all the noble causes of our peoples.
José Martí died in combat on May 19, 1895, but his consequence, and the clarity of his thought next to the rifle and the sword, continued to serve as an example for those revolutionaries who 64 years later, guided by Fidel, Raúl and Che, made of his word, the most powerful and accurate voice that guided their struggles against the Batista tyranny.
Today Cuba, in solidarity, socialist, dignified, the people of José Martí, live moments of deep concern. The aggressiveness of the most powerful and destructive enemy on earth, such as U.S. imperialism, has reached limits of hatred and damage that we are sure no other country could bear. Even so, Cuba resists. Cuba is not alone, and today more than ever it needs us to correspond to its historical attitude of solidarity with the peoples.
Comrades, friends: José Martí, this extraordinary being, this exemplary Cuban who we remember today, would be in the front row next to Fidel delivering his wise word of struggle and resistance against imperialism.
We Chilean communists pay our deepest homage to his memory with the conviction that, just as Martí continues to live in the Cuban revolution, his word and his sword will also know how to overcome and defeat the hard siege of imperialism against his revolution.
LONG LIVE THE 172ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF JOSE MARTI!
LONG LIVE THE CUBAN REVOLUTION!
