On Saturday, August 12th, 2023, the Eugene members of the LGBT+ Commission of the Party of Communists USA participated in Eugene Pride and was able to set up a table at the event to distribute literature for the Party of Communists USA, League of Young Communists USA, and Peoples School for Marxist-Leninist Studies and sell New Outlook Publishers’ and US Friends of the Soviet Peoples’ literature! We want to thank Eugene Pride, who helped us by covering the cost of our tabling and providing us with a tent for the event as well!

We started by participating in the Pride March from Broadway and Willamette to Alton Baker Park, carrying our LGBT+ Commission flag and holding up a fist! We made it to our booth, set everything up and immediately were greeted with person after person, excited to hear about socialism and interested in getting involved! We sold many New Outlook Publishers books, including all of our Communists and the LGBT+ Struggle Vol I books we had for sale. We got several signups for the Peoples School for Marxist-Leninist Studies and the Party of Communists USA.

Most of the interactions we had were good and we handled ourselves professionally throughout the event. We met and talked to people from other political parties in attendance, including Lane County Democrats, Eugene-Springfield DSA and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, of which all were happy to see us there. We plan on being more prepared for next year’s pride and having more merchandise available, like flags, clothing and gadgets for sale.
