The Black Liberation Commission of the Party of Communists USA calls for the immediate release of revolutionary political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Mumia is one of many revolutionary Black Americans targeted by the racist & reactionary American legal system & its law enforcers. He is another innocent man framed by organizations allegedly dedicated to “serving & protecting” despite showing the exact opposite in their actions. The so-called “innocent until proven guilty” American legal system has had their eye on Mumia since he joined the Black Panther Party at the age of 16 back in 1970.
Today, he is one of the longest held political prisoners in American history, clocking in at nearly 43 years of unjust incarceration. Human Rights organizations including Amnesty International, as well as black rights groups such as the NAACP, have acknowledged the injustice of the case and have called for his release.
Since his arrest, the ruling class has used all sorts of techniques intended to break his spirit as well as his American & International support system. The American ruling class believe they can use Mumia Abu-Jamal as an example to deter revolutionaries & common citizens alike from standing up against racism, police terror & torture. They are mistaken as it has only strengthened the will of the oppressed for freedom and independence.
In recent months Mumia’s health has shown signs of deterioration at an alarming rate to the point where his hair has fallen out, he’s showing unhealthy signs of weight loss, and his blood pressure is now constantly monitored as it fluctuates continuously. The Party of Communists USA calls for fairness and freedom for Mumia. His release is crucial in the fight to save his life and prolonging this unjust sentence will result in his death behind bars as time is running out.
Despite his long tenure in prison and his increasing medical issues, Mumia’s spirit has not been broken. Recently, he has supported the world wide student-led protests against the ongoing genocide in Gaza by the Israeli occupation, which is supported and funded by the same repressive state that keeps him behind bars and represses the students on college campuses. The time for his release is now.
