Statement of the Communist Parties in Arab Countries addressed to the Arab Summit in Cairo
The Communist Parties in Arab Countries call on the Arab Summit in Cairo
to adopt a unified Arab stance in support of the Palestinian people’s steadfastness
and to reject the US-Israeli eviction plan

The Communist Parties in Arab countries strongly condemn the ongoing genocide committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, as well as its escalation in the West Bank. They also firmly oppose US-Israeli plans to forcibly displace the Palestinians from their lands, the continued Israeli aggression against Syria and Lebanon, and the occupation of parts of their territories. These acts threaten the interests of the peoples in the Arab region, the unity and sovereignty of their national states, as well as regional and international peace and security.

Our Communist Parties, accordingly, call on the Arab Summit (to be held in Cairo on 4 March 2025) to adopt a unified Arab stance, accompanied by concrete political steps, foremost among them:

  1. Reject all forcible displacement plans targeting the Palestinian people, particularly those involving relocation to Egypt, Jordan, or other countries. This dangerous project must be resisted, and concrete political steps should be taken to ensure the necessary support for Palestinian people’s steadfastness and heroic struggle, to prevent the implementation of forced displacement from any part of its lands, and to guarantee their human rights and attaining their national rights.
Additionally, to oppose Israeli efforts, with the support of the US and its allies, to dismantle the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency). Efforts must be exerted to protect it and secure the continued provision of all its services.
  1. Utilize the resources of Arab states and leverage economic power – particularly oil exports (as successfully done in the 1973 October War) and Gulf investments in Western countries, especially the US -, and to announce the ending of the “Petrodollar Agreement” which restricts oil sales to transactions in US dollars. This should be one of the initial measures to exert pressure for an end to the continuing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in all their land, as well as to end the Zionist aggression on the Lebanese and Syrian peoples and the occupation of part of their territories. It is also aimed at putting an end to the American-Israeli threats to the security and peace of the Arab countries, and to attempts to impose domination over them and the normalization of their relations with the occupying power, Israel.
  2. Resist and confront the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and to compel the Israeli forces to withdraw immediately from the entire Gaza Strip, lifting the blockade and allowing the provision of all types of aid, securing the return of the displaced to their homes, and rebuilding Gaza. In addition, making every effort to prevent the occupying power, Israel, from resuming its aggression or expanding and escalating it against any part of the Palestinian people.
  3. Cease normalization with Israel, annul the existing normalization agreements, and expand the Arab boycott of the Zionist occupation. The Summit should reaffirm the Palestinian people’s right to resist the occupation, as enshrined in international law.
  4. End any reliance on US positions and promises, as American administrations remain complicit in Israeli occupation and its fascist Zionist system, in terrorism and aggression against the Palestinian people and denial of their rights, as well as in aggression against the peoples of the Arab region.
  1. Urge the international community (represented by the Security Council, the UN and its organisations) to assume its responsibilities in ensuring that the Zionist occupation power abides by international laws, charters and resolutions, foremost among which are the “Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians in Occupied Territories and in Time of War and Armed Conflict,” in addition to supporting all efforts to prosecute and hold accountable Israeli war criminals. In addition, strengthening the status of the Palestinian cause as an issue of national liberation, and ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
  2. Reject and denounce the statements of war criminal Netanyahu regarding Israel’s supposed “guardianship” over southern Syria, and Israel’s attempts to interfere in Syrian affairs and divide its territories. The Summit should demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Zionist occupation forces from all occupied Syrian territories, and the right of the Syrian people to resist this occupation and aggression.
  3. Condemn the continuation of Zionist aggression against Lebanon and the occupation of part of its territories in the south, and demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Zionist occupation forces from all its occupied territories. To stress also the legitimate right of the Lebanese people to resist the occupation and liberate their land, up to the international borders, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.
  4. Adopt resolutions and take concrete steps to deter the US administration from disregarding the independence and sovereignty of Arab countries, interfering in their internal affairs, and employing extortion and pressuring them to engage in projects to liquidate the Palestinian cause. To mobilize all energies to support the struggle and rights of the Palestinian people, in order to end the occupation of their land, and for the right to self-determination and the return of Palestinian refugees in accordance with UN Resolution No. 194.
  5. Support achieving Palestinian national unity and strengthening it on the basis of unity of the Palestinian people. To support their steadfastness and resistance to the occupation, the unity of the territories of their desired state, and the unity of their political representation through the Palestine Liberation Organisation.

Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people and the struggles of the Arab peoples!
