He said he was declaring a public safety emergency and putting the police under the control of the attorney general, Pam Bondi.<br><br>Trump vowed to allow police to \u201cdo whatever the hell they want\u201d in the face of provocations. \u201cThat\u2019s the only language they [alleged criminals] understand. They like to spit in the face of the police. You spit, and we hit, and they get hit real hard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump&#8217;s words are reminiscent of the Hitler&#8217;s Brownshirts paramilitary force used to usurp power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Trump succeeds, this could mean an end to protests in Washington, DC, a historic center of the American right to political protest.
