THE AMERICAN PEACE INFORMATION CENTER DENOUNCES US, EUROPEAN UNION ECONOMIC SANCTIONS AGAINST SYRIA!

Originally published by the American Peace Information Center – https://apic.us.org/

The US and European Union have recently renewed imperialist sanctions against the besieged pro-working class Syrian Arab Republic, the EU on May 28 for one year, the US on 15 February for 8 years!

The sanctions, and ongoing war in the country, punish Syria for refusing in 2009 to allow construction of a gas pipeline through its territory for shipment of gas directly from Qatar to Europe to the detriment of its principal ally Russia. The US House also passed “the Assad Anti-Normalization Act,” which “prohibits federal officials or employees from taking any action to recognize a Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad.” The American attack to drive Assad out of office went full speed in 2011 but 13 years later he seems even more firmly entrenched in power.

The US attacks Syria through multiple proxies today: Israel which almost daily bombs Syria from fighter jets idling over Lebanon’s mountains, and Al-Qaeda (aka Al Nusra Front, etc.) and ISIS and other groups that are also fronts for the US State Department, whose terrorist fighters collect paychecks from the US Congress’ budget authorizations. The sanctions are sold as punishment for war crimes committed by these US terrorists but blamed on Assad, such as the outrageous sarin gas attacks in 2013 and 2017 that killed hundreds of innocent civilians, especially children in the Ghouta region of Damascus. These US-backed terrorists killed over 300,000 Syrian civilians since 2011, according to UN data.

There is no civil war in Syria, inherently a stable, secular society and republic, not divided ethnically or religiously. The war has been one of indirect aggression on the part of the US since 2011 through brutally barbaric foreign mercenary terrorists from over 80 countries, as well as
American troops, which is illegal according to International Law. Beyond the pipeline, the purpose is to destroy an anti-imperialist state bordering Israel, and one which champions the Palestinian struggle for freedom and independence. Israel seized Syria’s Golan Heights in the 1967 Six Day War.

SYRIA NEEDS TO BE DEFENDED FROM ISRAELI AGGRESSION.

END US MILITARY INTERVENTION IN SYRIA!

THE GOLAN HEIGHTS IS SYRIAN TERRITORY!

END US SANCTIONS AGAINST SYRIA!
