On March 28, 2026, there were 100 to 200 — just a guess going off what I saw — people at the Bentonville Square during the No Kings Rally. We marched around downtown chanting, signed a petition for the Ballot Measure Rights Amendment of 2026, signed two petitions for the Education Rights Amendment of 2026 and listened to Robb Ryerse’s speech.

Robb is a congressional candidate who is running against Sen. Steve Womack, someone who has never talked to me or my group when I went to his offices with Arkansas Renters United, hiding from his constituents. Robb wants to abolish ICE and give us free health care. I went up to Robb, shook his hand and volunteered to campaign for him. While marching in circles around the square, I saw the text on the Benton County courthouse that read, “sovereignty rests with the people,” which aligned with the slogans we were chanting.

Additionally, there was someone in an Uncle Sam costume, a founding father costume — who said he would be Jefferson if he had to pick one founding father — an Easter Bunny costume with a sign saying something like he can’t afford eggs for Easter and two officers from the Bentonville Police Department standing on the side of the square. There were U.S. flags and a pirate flag. I didn’t like the pirate flag. Nevertheless, the progressive spirit was immense.

  1. “Yeah… Listen I—I’m not a—I’m not a fan of like endless wars. I don’t like the idea of the United States being involved all over the World in all sorts of different things… uh because I think a lot of what happens is there’s a lot of big corporations that get rich off of that. I think a lthere’s a—they make billions of dollars off of those kinds of uh … uh those kinds of things” (Robb Ryerse, https://youtu.be/rAx00Jj-xpg?t=10m48s).
